Job summary

Publicis Digital Experience in San Diego is seeking a Principal Engineer, AI/ML & Cloud, to define the reference architecture for Generative and Agentic AI on the platform and to set engineering standards for the broader teams.

You will deliver the most critical components, operate as a technical authority across AI, data science, and platform engineering, and mentor engineers without direct people management.

Qualifications

• 13+ years of experience in ML engineering and data engineering with large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and shipping Generative/Agentic AI in production.
• Ability to act as Principal-level technical authority without people management.
• Track record of making build vs buy decisions on AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end AI platform architecture from data foundations to model serving and orchestration.
• Define reference architectures, standards, and paved-path patterns for AI and platform teams.
• Lead high-stakes technical decisions on frameworks, vector stores, inference strategies and cloud services.
• Design, develop, and document platform objectives, architecture, and specifications with internal users.
• Provide technical direction, review designs and code, and raise the engineering bar across senior engineers.
