Job summary

Zip Co Limited is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead the model selection and orchestration layer for customer-facing and internal AI workflows. You will own components that determine when to use a model, a tool, retrieval, or deterministic logic, balancing quality, safety, latency, and cost.

You will write production code, evaluate AI system behavior, and collaborate with security, risk, and product teams to deliver reliable AI capabilities at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on AI/ML-enabled applications development beyond prototypes.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript and modern software practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the decision/orchestration layer for AI agents.
• Evaluate model/classifier choices using measurable outcomes like latency and cost.
• Implement robust integration with approved APIs, tools, and security controls.
• Collaborate with Security, Risk and product teams on responsible AI practices.
