Job summary

Markon is seeking an Expert Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA to support an Intelligence Community client. The role provides program management and SETA support across multiple AI/ML and data analytics initiatives within a mission-critical intelligence environment.

The successful candidate will drive project scopes, roadmaps, and schedules while coordinating TEMs with government stakeholders and vendors. Strong agile, SDLC, and AI/ML experience are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with FS polygraph required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in engineering, program management, or SETA support.
• Proven ability to interface with senior government leadership and support decision-making with critical impact.
• Strong experience with Agile methodologies and sprint-based development practices.
• Understanding of software and system development lifecycles (SDLC).
• Experience with AI/ML technologies, including familiarity with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
• Understanding of deep-learning concepts and architectures.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Experience integrating AI/ML models with larger systems.
• Experience supporting AI/ML project development from concept through deployment.
• Knowledge of requirements gathering, analysis, and prioritization methodologies.
• Knowledge of government contracting and acquisition processes, including FAR, OTA, COTR responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide program management and SETA leadership across multiple AI/ML and data analytics projects.
• Establish and manage project scope, metrics, roadmaps, schedules, and deliverables.
• Coordinate and facilitate TEMs with government stakeholders, development teams, and vendors.
• Lead cross-divisional coordination and liaison between front-office leadership and technical teams.
• Document workflows and prioritize requirements using Agile methodologies.
• Maintain action-item tracking and ensure follow-through across projects.
• Develop senior leadership briefings, CONOPS, risk metrics, and program tracking systems.
• Create and maintain knowledge repositories using Confluence and HIVE.
• Coordinate vendor activities across contracts and remove blockers.
• Provide technical guidance to COTRs on contract performance and technical matters.
• Test and evaluate developing AI/ML platforms for functionality and readiness.
• Support demonstrations, training sessions, and outreach activities.
• Analyze project data and establish user-feedback mechanisms for priorities.
• Identify risks and monitor mitigation strategies.
• Assist with meeting documentation using transcription and AI summarization tools.
