Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join our AI/ML-focused team onsite in El Segundo, CA or Melbourne, FL. You will design, develop, test, and deploy advanced AI/ML applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring solutions into production.

The ideal candidate has a strong software background (Python/C++/Java) with experience in rapid prototyping, large codebases, and AI tooling. A US Secret clearance is required or in process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or STEM with 14+ years of experience; or Master’s 12 years; or PhD with 10 years.
• Experience with AI models and algorithms such as LLMs, DNNs or embedding models.
• Experience with AI tools and deploying AI/LLM solutions such as coding assistants and infrastructure.
• Experience with large codebases containing multiple languages.
• Ability to develop requirements and work in verification/testing environments.
• Proven rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Strong software engineering practices including version control and architecture.
• Active US Government Secret clearance (or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
