Job summary

The Vanguard Group seeks an experienced model risk professional to provide independent oversight of AI/ML and generative AI models across the enterprise. You will lead validations, assess governance, and challenge model assumptions with data scientists, developers and technology partners.

You'll shape the model risk management framework, drive standards, and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences, while mentoring junior team members and collaborating across business units.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in model development or model validation.
• Experience developing, testing or validating AI/ML models or systems using generative AI is required.
• Knowledge of programming languages including Python is a requirement.
• Knowledge of technology platforms used for model development and deployment, CI/CD is a requirement.
• Knowledge of generative AI architectures and risks such as bias and hallucinations.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent validations and assessments of AI models across the enterprise.
• Provide effective challenge of model assumptions, methodologies, data and testing.
• Ensure compliance with internal AI standards, regulations, and governance expectations.
• Deliver high-quality validation reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance validation procedures for AI/ML systems across the model lifecycle.
• Contribute to policy and standard-setting across model risk management.
• Identify emerging risks and advise stakeholders on Model Risk policy.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.
