Job summary

Vanguard seeks an experienced model risk professional to lead independent validation of AI/ML and generative AI models across the enterprise. You will assess models for soundness and governance, working with data scientists, developers, and technology partners to provide credible challenge while maintaining collaborative relationships with the business.

You will help evolve Vanguard's model risk management framework, shaping methodologies, standards, and practices to support enterprise-wide

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative discipline and at least 7 years in model development or validation.
• Experience developing, testing or validating AI/ML models or systems using generative AI.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with model development/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of generative AI architectures (foundation models, RAG, agentic workflows) and related risks.
• Strong written communication for complex model risk to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead validation of AI/ML/generative AI models across the enterprise.
• Challenge model assumptions, data, testing, and monitoring with focus on risk drivers.
• Ensure compliance with internal AI standards and regulatory expectations; communicate findings clearly.
• Develop and refine validation procedures for a consistent, risk-based approach.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to MRM policy and framework evolution.
