Job summary

Optum seeks a Sr Manager of AI/ML Engineering to lead an engineering team delivering enterprise AI/ML platforms. The role spans architecture, roadmaps, governance, and hands-on ML model deployment across production environments.

You will collaborate with business, product, and enterprise architects to translate goals into scalable AI-driven solutions while maintaining SDLC rigor and strong security/compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of progressive software, data engineering or AI/ML engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading or mentoring engineering teams.
• 3+ years building and deploying AI/ML models or data pipelines to production.
• 3+ years with core languages (Python, Java or C++) and ML frameworks (TF, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• 2+ years cloud platform experience (Azure/AWS/GCP) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience delivering SDLC within Agile frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor an engineering team focused on enterprise AI/ML solutions.
• Define roadmaps, architectures, and engineering strategy with stakeholders.
• Drive MLOps, testing, CI/CD, and model governance improvements.
• Oversee architecture, resourcing, scheduling and risk across deliverables.
• Ensure AI/ML solutions meet data security, privacy and regulatory standards.
• Establish KPIs to measure model performance and system availability.
