Job summary

X8 in Columbia, MD seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to transition AI prototypes into secure, enterprise-scale services for USCYBERCOM. The role focuses on Python development, LLM/agent orchestration, model evaluation, and enterprise integration to deliver measurable mission impact.

Qualified candidates have a TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph, deep Python, and proven experience building production LLM/agent systems. Compensation starts at $200k+.

Qualifications

• Design, develop and integrate AI/ML capabilities for secure enterprise environments.
• Experience building production-grade LLM/agent systems.
• Familiarity with RAG, vector databases and prompt engineering.
• Ability to manage risk and operational security in mission-critical settings.
• Strong collaboration with data scientists and mission analysts.

Responsibilities

• Provide embedded mission support and rapid prototyping of AI capabilities.
• Design workflow orchestration for LLMs and agents using modern frameworks.
• Optimize model routing for performance, cost, and mission fit.
• Develop RAG pipelines, vector stores, and memory services for context.
• Integrate secure tool brokers for enterprise data access.
• Build automated evaluation, benchmarks, monitoring, and reporting.
• Partner with teams to produce research and prototypes while enforcing governance.
