Job summary

WHOOP is hiring a Senior AI/ML Engineer to scale the intelligence layer behind WHOOP’s AI-powered experiences, including WHOOP Coach and AI Support. You will own core components of the AI Platform, shaping evaluation pipelines, fine-tuning workflows, and observability, partnering with data science and product.

You will build and operate production AI systems, design datasets, and mentor others, while ensuring privacy-aware practices and strong collaboration across teams in a fast-growing health

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in applied machine learning, AI engineering, or ML-focused software engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with modern language models (open-weight or API-based).
• Solid understanding of ML fundamentals for data pipelines and evaluation.
• Familiarity with SFT, DPO, RL and production data requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production AI systems around language models powering WHOOP products.
• Lead end-to-end AI system initiatives from problem definition to deployment.
• Build data pipelines for training/evaluation datasets for language model–based systems.
• Develop tooling to speed up experimentation and observability in production AI features.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to raise technical standards.
