Job summary

Gormat in Maryland is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to join a mission-focused program supporting cyber operations. You will translate research prototypes into production-grade AI capabilities, design embedded software and system-level components, and work within a national mission context.

The role requires TS/SCI with poly, strong Python, and hands-on experience building LLM/agent-based systems, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and tool-broker integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Data Science with 10+ years experience; or 14+ years without a degree.
• Active TS/SCI clearance w/Poly.
• Advanced proficiency in Python for AI/ML application development.
• Experience building or integrating LLM/agent-based systems in production.
• Experience with RAG, vector databases, and prompt/context engineering.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced mission environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide embedded operations support and rapid prototyping for AI/ML tools.
• Design and integrate LLM/agent orchestration workflows.
• Tune model routing across frontier/open-weight models for cost and performance.
• Develop RAG pipelines and vector databases for mission knowledge access.
• Implement tool-broker integrations for secure enterprise tool access.
• Benchmark and tune models; build evaluation pipelines for safety and performance.
• Collaborate with data scientists to production-grade AI capabilities.
• Implement AI governance guardrails and document architectures.
• Research emerging LLM/agent tooling to keep capabilities current.
