Job summary

Optum Technology in Minnesota is seeking a Sr AI/ML Engineer to drive enterprise-scale AI/ML solutions. You will collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and software architects to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems in cloud environments.

You will work with Databricks, Large Language Models, and robust MLOps practices to translate complex business problems into scalable AI use cases, ensuring security, observability, and maintainable architectures across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
• 3+ years focused on AI/ML solution engineering and deployment.
• 3+ years Python, SQL, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering practices.
• 3+ years ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• 3+ years Databricks, Spark, or PySpark on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• 3+ years MLOps experience (model versioning, CI/CD, monitoring).
• 2+ years Generative AI and LLM experience (RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with responsible AI.
• Leverage enterprise AI tools and best practices to automate workflows.
• Evaluate trends to inform solution design and architecture.
• Independently design end-to-end AI/ML architectures for production use cases.
• Implement MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, testing, deployment, and observability.
• Establish reusable engineering patterns and development workflows.
• Balance model quality, scalability, cost, security, and maintainability across cloud environments.
• Lead design reviews and mentor engineers with cross-functional teams.
