Job summary

Simulations Plus, Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer for the AI/LLM Platform to lead the design and implementation of agent surfaces and context layers that power our SaaS and AI-enabled products. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and Technology, and work across providers like Anthropic and OpenAI to ensure scalable, low-latency workflows.

This is a fully remote exempt role. Requires 5+ years in software engineering with hands-on LLM, Node/TS, and agent orchestration experience,

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience with agents, LLM-integrated features, or MCP servers
Strong Node.js and TypeScript background; service-layer design and tool integrations
Experience with agent orchestration, prompt/tool design, and context-management patterns (RAG, vector search)
Hands-on experience with at least one major LLM provider SDK (Anthropic, OpenAI, or comparable)
Pragmatic, applied mindset for engineering (not research)
Fluency using AI coding tools in daily workflow across languages

Responsibilities

Design, build, and distribute agentic systems that surface scientific capability to customers
Build agent loops, orchestration code, and control structures balancing autonomy, cost, and latency
Stand up vector stores, knowledge bases, and retrieval patterns powering agent reasoning and customer workflows
Mentor engineers, contribute to architectural patterns and technical standards
Handle other duties as assigned
