Job summary

Stout is seeking a seasoned software engineer to help build AI-driven knowledge work tools. You will own parts of the platform, contribute to production-ready code, and partner with consultants and product teams across the firm.

You'll work on LLM-backed features, data pipelines, and AI tooling, applying strong software craftsmanship and clear communication to deliver reliable, scalable solutions in a fast-growing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional software engineering across the full stack.
• Ability to learn new stacks quickly and contribute in unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience with LLM applications and AI tooling.
• Clear written and spoken communication.
• Experience owning an area of a system in production.
• Ability to collaborate with consultants, product and design.

Responsibilities

• Ship features from refined requirements to production across the frontend and backend.
• Own areas of the platform, such as a data pipeline, a service or a part of the UI.
• Work on the LLM-backed core of the product, including extraction, retrieval, chat and content generation.
• Use AI coding tools as a core part of the development workflow: break work into well-specified tasks, review agent output, and write code by hand when faster.
• Build tests, evals and checks for safe AI-assisted changes.
• Pick up what the team needs next and learn what’s required to do it well.
• Partner with consultants, product and design to sharpen requirements early.
