Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to advance foundations, LLM core and agentic AI on scalable, responsible systems. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ship AI-powered products that transform how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.

You will design, develop and optimize AI software components, leverage Open Source and SaaS tools, and drive governance, cost-performance reviews, and technical vision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 years in AI/ML development.
• Master’s degree plus at least 4 years in AI/ML development.
• 6+ years programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Deliver AI-powered products with cross-functional teams.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
• Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques for performance and cost.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of AI systems.
• Design, implement and optimize multi-model orchestration pipelines.
• Lead cost-performance governance reviews across AI systems.
• Mentor Principal and Manager-level AI engineers.
