Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to guide multiple FDE pods across strategic enterprise customers, setting delivery models, engineering standards, and talent strategy at scale.

You will lead 15–30+ engineers, influence AWS teams, define what 'great' looks like for AI engineering management, and work with stakeholders to drive measurable business impact while traveling 30–50%.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of engineering organization management experience (managing managers or large teams).
• 8+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience defining technical strategy and delivery standards for an engineering organization.
• Experience managing teams across multiple concurrent programs or product lines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the FDE delivery organization across multiple customer engagements and FDE pods; staff and structure teams for optimal customer coverage; define engagement models, staffing strategies, and delivery cadences; travel 30–50%.
• Define technical strategy and standards; set direction for complex AI programs; align with AWS teams; influence senior decisions and drive escalations.
• Own production excellence at organizational scale; define standards and readiness criteria for AI systems; ensure health across engagements; drive improvements.
• Build and scale the team; hire, develop, and retain FDE talent; coach FDE Managers; drive performance and succession planning.
• Accelerate transformation at portfolio level; identify opportunities to expand AI adoption; create accelerators and reusable platforms; influence product roadmaps.
