Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, AI Engineer to lead AI software initiatives across a cross-functional team. The role focuses on foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, governance, and observability to deliver scalable AI solutions for banking applications.

You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure responsible AI practices while collaborating with Research, Data, and Platform teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus required years of experience.
At least 1 year of people leadership experience.
3 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team.
6 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms.
Experience programming in Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang.
Familiarity with MLOps and AI observability to ensure reliability and compliance.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
Oversee AI software components including model training, inference, evaluation, and observability.
Make build-vs-buy decisions across OSS and SaaS AI technologies.
Optimize foundation model performance for scale, cost, latency, and throughput.
Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Capital One AI systems.
Mentor and develop team members to grow professionally.
Translate enterprise AI goals into actionable team roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
Establish responsible AI review gates and rollout/rollback standards.
Collaborate with Research, Data, and Platform teams to speed up model lifecycles.
