Job summary

Capital One is seeking a senior AI Engineer to partner with cross-functional teams to design and deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with banking services. You will work on foundation model training, LLM inference, and multi-model orchestration using a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.

You will mentor engineers, influence the technical roadmap, and help optimize cost, latency, and throughput while ensuring governance and responsible AI practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with several years of AI/ML experience
• Experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java
• Experience leading AI systems with tradeoffs on cost, latency, throughput and accuracy
• Cloud experience on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or equivalent private cloud
• Experience developing AI/ML algorithms including LLM inference, vector search, and guardrails

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineers, researchers, PMs, and other teams to deliver AI-powered products
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components
• Lead multi-model orchestration and integration of LLMs, vector search, and domain models
• Establish governance, monitor GPU utilization, model throughput and inference cost
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical roadmap and standards
• Lead design reviews to ensure consistency and best practices
