Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking an AI Engineer for a Norfolk, VA-based contract-to-hire role. You will architect multi-agent systems, build RAG pipelines, and manage vector databases while deploying AI features in cloud environments.

The role requires 7+ years in software engineering with 2+ years in production AI/NLP, a Bachelor’s in a technical field, and active clearance or ability to obtain one. Agile experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 2+ years in production AI/NLP.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to maintain clearance; IAT II or higher.
• Experience in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable multi-agent systems with advanced routing and hierarchical design.
• Build and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines and semantic search.
• Design data preprocessing workflows, chunking strategies, and vector DB infrastructure.
• Deploy, secure, and monitor AI apps and microservices in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with data scientists and designers to integrate AI features in products.
• Enforce security best practices for LLMs and data privacy.
