Job summary

Atlantic Partners seeks a Senior AI Engineer to partner with the Lead AI Engineer in delivering secure, scalable AI solutions across the firm. You will own design and implementation for AI products, including model selection, orchestration, context management, retrieval, tools, memory, APIs, and enterprise integrations.

You will build evaluation frameworks for quality, safety, latency, and cost, implement security and governance, and collaborate across Data, Platform Engineering, Cybersecurity,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 6-10+ years of software, data, ML, or AI engineering experience, including delivering production systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with LLM APIs and models, RAG, embeddings, vector search, agents, orchestration, evaluation, and AI application security.
• Hands-on experience building and running agentic systems in production, including agent harnesses and SDKs.
• Experience designing and deploying MCP servers and tools, tool schemas, and secure enterprise data exposure to agents.
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop workflows with gates, asynchronous orchestration, and auditable handoffs.
• Experience building evaluation and regression harnesses for agent outputs.
• Strong Python and software-engineering skills, including APIs, distributed systems, cloud services, testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure development.
• Experience integrating AI with enterprise data platforms, identity systems, document stores, workflows, and business apps.
• Ability to balance rapid experimentation with reliability, governance, maintainability, and cost.
• Ability to own complex technical work, collaborate across teams, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Lead AI Engineer to develop reference Engineerures, patterns, and standards for generative AI and workflows.
• Own design and implementation for AI products, including model selection, orchestration, context management, retrieval, tools, memory, APIs, and integrations.
• Build evaluation frameworks for quality, groundedness, safety, latency, reliability, and cost; include regression testing.
• Implement security and governance controls for identity, data handling, privacy, secrets, logging, auditability, and safety.
• Collaborate with Data and Platform Engineering to deploy, CI/CD, MLOps/LMLops, observability, scaling, and production ops.
• Evaluate models, platforms, vendors, and emerging capabilities; prototype solutions and inform build-vs-buy decisions.
• Develop components, review code and designs, troubleshoot, and improve performance and reliability.
• Document solution designs and production-readiness checks; hand off operationally.
• Mentor AI engineers and provide day-to-day technical guidance.
• Act as a technical resource and communicate design tradeoffs and risks.
