Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to accelerate AI-powered software development by defining the technical direction for AI agents and tooling. You will ship production-grade AI agents, coordinate with engineering leadership, and drive scalable automation across the lifecycle.

You will work with Claude/OpenAI-like APIs, modern agent frameworks, and orchestration tooling, mentoring teammates to raise the team's architectural capabilities while delivering reliable, enterprise-scale

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 1 year shipping production systems built on LLMs or AI agents.
Demonstrated experience with modern agent frameworks and LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.).
Proficiency with tool use, retrieval, multi-step workflows, evaluation, and observability.

Responsibilities

Own a slice of the technical vision for AI agents and tooling across the software development lifecycle.
Identify high-leverage agent and tooling opportunities, build the business case, and define the roadmap to deliver them.
Design, build, and ship production AI agents that automate impactful parts of the engineering workflow.
Work hands-on with modern agent frameworks, LLM APIs, and orchestration tooling to deliver production-grade systems.
Set technical direction for agent architecture, evaluation, and observability within the team.
Mentor team members and contribute to a collaborative environment across cross-functional contributors.
