Job summary

Next Frontier Capital seeks a Senior Lead Software Engineer to design, build, and operate an AI toolchain that modernizes legacy mainframe workloads. You will translate COBOL/JCL/DB2 into structured specs and production services, while leading agentic workflow development and production-grade verification.

You will collaborate with domain SMEs, architect multi-agent systems, and drive rapid delivery with robust LLMOps, testing frameworks, and governance for enterprise-scale reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems.
• 2+ years building LLM-based applications — agentic architectures, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, evaluation.
• Strong fundamentals: distributed systems, event-driven architectures, API design, testing, cloud platforms (AWS/EKS/ECS).
• Expert proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
• Experience with at least one: Kotlin/JVM/Java, Python, Rust in production.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and debug complex systems.
• Clear communicator who can articulate trade-offs to engineers and business stakeholders.
• Experience with code migration.

Responsibilities

• Builds and operates the spec generation pipeline ingesting COBOL, JCL, job schedules, DB2, SME knowledge.
• Develops agentic workflows for code translation and migration to Kotlin/JVM.
• Builds evaluation infrastructure with automated tests, parity tests, and regression suites.
• Contributes to the standard calculation runtime for deterministic, auditable execution.
• Partners with domain SMEs across Credit, Money Market & Mutual Funds, Tax, and IBOR.
• Extends ETL and CDC pipelines for end-to-end migrated workflows.
• Operates AI systems in production: LLMOps, deployment, monitoring, cost, latency, and incident response.
• Iterates rapidly in build-measure-learn cycles and scales AI capabilities.
