Job summary

Planned Systems International, Inc. seeks a Senior AI Engineer to lead design, development, and deployment of AI, Generative AI, ML, and intelligent automation for VA IT operations.

You will build AI copilots and RAG solutions, integrate AI into enterprise apps and DevSecOps pipelines, and ensure governance and security standards are met. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, evaluate emerging AI tech, and develop PoCs that demonstrate measurable value while aligning with Trustworthy

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required for VA contract eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, AI, or related field.
• 5+ years of overall software engineering experience.
• 2+ years hands-on AI/ML/Generative AI development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Python.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or similar LLM platforms.
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or comparable AI frameworks.
• Experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications and AI Agents.
• Experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud-native development.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered applications using LLMs, Generative AI, and ML.
• Build AI Copilots, AI Agents, and RAG solutions to improve software engineering, testing, documentation, and workflows.
• Develop intelligent automation for test case generation, defect analysis, knowledge management, predictive analytics, and process optimization.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications, APIs, Azure cloud services, and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and rapidly develop proofs of concept (PoCs).
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, and business stakeholders to implement innovative AI solutions.
• Ensure all AI solutions comply with VA cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, and Trustworthy AI requirements.
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines, delivering high-quality results on time.
• Educate colleagues on brand standards and ensure visuals reflect the organization’s identity.
