Job summary

Planned Systems International (PSI) seeks a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and implement AI, Generative AI, and ML solutions for VA OIT. You will lead AI copilots, agents, and RAG initiatives, integrating AI into enterprise apps, APIs, and Azure services while ensuring secure, scalable production deployments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-value AI opportunities, build PoCs, and deliver trustworthy AI aligned with governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field.
• 5+ years of overall software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI solutions.
• Strong programming experience with Python.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or similar LLM platforms.
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or comparable AI frameworks.
• Experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications and AI Agents.
• Experience developing REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud-native development.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered applications using LLMs, Generative AI, and ML.
• Build AI Copilots, AI Agents, and RAG solutions to improve workflows.
• Develop intelligent automation for test generation, defect analysis, knowledge management, and analytics.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise apps, APIs, Azure cloud services, and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and develop PoCs.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, and stakeholders to implement AI solutions.
• Ensure AI solutions comply with VA cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, and Trustworthy AI requirements.
• Project management: manage tasks and deadlines for timely delivery.
• Produce consistent templates and documentation styles for PowerPoints, diagrams, and publications.
• Create user guides and training materials with SMEs.
