Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the Circle Card team in Minnesota. You will help design, build, and deploy AI-powered software that supports Circle Card journeys, with a focus on scalable backend services and AI-driven features.

You will collaborate with multiple teams to drive architecture, code quality, and production readiness, while mentoring engineers and advancing our use of AI technologies across products.

Qualifications

• 4 years of degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-scale applications.
• Experience deploying production AI applications and agentic systems using LLMs.
• Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., MCP, LangChain) and AI architectures.
• Proficiency in Python; Kotlin and Java; Micronaut and/or Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong communication and technical leadership; mentoring engineers.
• Interest in applying emerging AI technologies to solve business challenges.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools across the software lifecycle.
• Collaborate with AI coding assistants and enterprise AI platforms.
• Validate AI-generated code through testing and reviews.
• Design and build AI-powered applications using Target platforms and LLMs.
• Lead architectural design discussions and ensure scalability and observability.
