Job summary

Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a senior AI Engineer to lead design, development, testing and deployment of AI-enabled applications and automation workflows. You will work closely with engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver practical AI solutions using modern software practices and cloud-based tools.

The ideal candidate has 4–6+ years of hands-on AI/ML experience, strong Python skills, and familiarity with generative AI, RAG, and cloud services such as Claude, Bedrock or

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-6+ years of mid-to-senior engineering experience with hands-on AI/ML
• Experience in healthcare payer industry preferred
• Strong Python and data library skills (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• Understanding of ML concepts, generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering and model evaluation
• Exposure to retrieval-augmented generation concepts (RAG) including embedding, vector search, document grounding and knowledge retrieval
• Excellent communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical partners

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing and deployment of AI-enabled applications and automation solutions
• Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, automation engineers, product owners and business stakeholders
• Maintain hands-on involvement in generative AI, cloud services and AI tooling
• Keep track of token spend and cost management across AI projects
