Job summary

Tono is building autonomous specialty medicine clinics and dermatology AI. You will own end-to-end model development, from research ideas to production, collaborating with physicians and engineers to deliver trustworthy, clinically meaningful results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including training and shipping ML or computer vision models into production.
• Strong Python and deep learning experience with hands-on CV such as classification, detection, segmentation or image registration.
• Experience with fine-tuning and adaptation methods (LoRA, transfer learning) on vision or multimodal models.
• Rigorous evaluation approach: clinically meaningful metrics, calibration, held-out/external validation, bias awareness across skin tones.
• Experience building datasets and labeling workflows with domain experts.

Responsibilities

• Train and fine-tune vision and multimodal models for dermatology imaging.
• Build longitudinal pipelines to compare lesions across visits.
• Develop labeled datasets and annotation workflows with clinicians.
• Stand up inference services: model serving, batching, latency, cost.
• Add confidence scoring and human-in-the-loop review for trusted results.
• Monitor models in production for drift and image quality issues across groups.
• Integrate results into a TypeScript product (tRPC, Prisma, Postgres).
