Job summary

Pulley is hiring an AI Engineer to build the intelligence behind the product that accelerates permitting. You will own AI-powered features end-to-end, turning messy inputs into fast, structured outputs and shipping agent-driven workflows with high velocity.

You'll design evals, ensure reliability in production, and mentor others while working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment in the SF Bay Area. Hybrid in-person work required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering, with substantial ML/LLM production experience.
• Own end-to-end LLM-powered product surfaces, from requirements to production.
• Hands-on experience with prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction.
• Experience designing evals and reliability for LLM-powered features.
• Experience building with AI coding agents and agent workflows.
• Architect durable systems with pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and willing to work in person 4 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Own AI-powered features end-to-end—from user conversations to production.
• Turn unstructured permitting documents into structured outputs—extraction and classification.
• Build evaluation and observability foundations for ML features.
• Work with AI agents daily, guiding and shipping at high velocity.
• Make technical and product decisions that impact customers’ projects.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar on quality and velocity.
