Job summary

GrabJobs is seeking an experienced AI Systems Engineer to design, develop, and maintain complex AI systems driving our platform’s core features. You will own technical design, work across data engineers, software developers, and product managers, and lead efforts to build scalable AI-driven solutions that enhance user experience and efficiency.

The role requires 5+ years in software engineering with LLM-backed features, strong Python/TypeScript skills, and expertise in data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering or related STEM field.
• 5+ years in software engineering focusing on services, pipelines, or SDK development.
• 2+ years deploying LLM-backed features in production with on-call duties.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; able to read/write multiple languages.
• Strong data engineering knowledge including SQL and distributed processing.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the operational design of AI products, establishing measurement and evaluation frameworks to monitor non-deterministic behaviors.
• Formulate hypotheses, validate signals, and determine correct outputs using real usage data or handcrafted cases.
• Continuously evaluate APIs, SDKs, data representations, and reference apps from an end-user perspective, identifying gaps.
• Own the MVP for projects, balancing technical excellence with timely delivery of useful features.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines including ingestion, conflation, entity resolution, and QA processes.
• Track external datasets and benchmarks, assessing applicability and integration.
• Design feedback loops to generate data for improving product quality and failure analysis.
• Define the boundary between models and tools, build model harnesses, manage latency and cost targets.
• Create internal tools and harnesses to enable rapid iteration and share components across teams.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AI Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.


• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on services, pipelines, or SDK development.


• At least 2 years of experience deploying and managing LLM-backed features in production environments with error budgets and on-call responsibilities.


• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with the ability to read and write code in multiple programming languages.


• Deep understanding of data engineering principles, including SQL, distributed processing frameworks, and pipeline management.


• Experience with tool calling, agent orchestration, and handling failure modes such as hallucinations, stale contexts, and unbounded loops.


• Proven ability to design evaluation frameworks for non-deterministic systems and build datasets that effectively catch failures.


• Hands-on experience diagnosing latency issues in distributed request paths and optimizing system performance.


• Familiarity with building and managing data pipelines, including ingestion, conflation, entity resolution, and quality checks.


• Ability to evaluate external datasets, models, and benchmarks, and decide when to adopt existing solutions versus building custom ones.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and mentor junior engineers.

• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system availability, responding promptly to incidents outside of regular hours.
