Job summary

Thimble is expanding its platform and is looking for a backend engineer to lead durable, scalable Node.js microservices on AWS. You’ll work in TypeScript daily with AI-assisted tooling, shaping architecture for production readiness.

You’ll own code from design through production, collaborating with product and growth to migrate and improve reliability in a remote, async-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering with production experience in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building and operating distributed or event-driven systems.
• Experience using AI tools to drive large code migrations at scale.
• Comfort reading unfamiliar code and data models and spotting problems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build durable workflows and services with clear boundaries and retries.
• Ship production code daily, leveraging agentic coding tools as a primary workflow.
• Define reference patterns and templates for rebuilt services.
• Plan migrations with incremental rollout and tested rollbacks.
• Build and maintain AI workflow tooling and evaluation scripts.
• Instrument services with metrics, alerts, and tracing; own incidents.
• Make targeted frontend changes when backend work requires it.
• Collaborate with product and growth, participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
