Job summary

9amHealth is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to help build AI-native systems beyond traditional frontend/backend work. You will shape how AI tools and agents become core parts of production, collaborating with Product, Design, and other engineers to deliver scalable solutions in a regulated healthcare context.

The role emphasizes designing APIs, services, and data models with reliability, observability, and security in mind, while advancing an agent-driven platform for chronic disease

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with strong knowledge of AWS, Java, and Typescript.
• Strong experience in building with LLMs in production, not just prototypes.
• Clear enthusiasm for the capabilities and opportunities of AI and agentic systems.
• Strong system design skills and comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate backend and fullstack systems that incorporate LLMs, tools, and agents as core components.
• Build agentic workflows (multi-step, tool using, stateful systems) that solve real product and operational problems.
• Integrate LLMs safely and reliably into production systems, with attention to observability, cost, and failure modes.
• Use modern AI coding tools to accelerate development, refactoring, and exploration.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to shape solutions and translate goals into architecture.
• Own APIs, services, and data models, ensuring reliability, security, privacy, and scalability.
