Job summary

The AES Group in Bellevue, WA is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join our software development team. You will leverage Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate Java/Spring Boot projects while owning code quality, security, and architecture decisions.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software engineering, deep Java/Spring expertise, and a proven ability to apply AI coding tools to real systems.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional software engineering experience with AI coding tools.
Strong Java and Spring/Spring Boot expertise.
Hands-on use of Claude Code for software development.
Experience with Codex/Codex CLI and GitHub Copilot.
Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
Backend expertise: REST/gRPC, databases, messaging, and microservices.
Ability to evaluate AI-generated code for quality, security, and performance.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain production software in Java/Spring Boot.
Use Claude Code as a primary AI coding agent for scaffolding, refactoring, and debugging.
Leverage Codex, Copilot, and related tools to accelerate coding tasks.
Break down features for AI-assisted implementation and QA.
Develop automated tests and internal tooling to support AI-assisted development.
Identify bugs, security issues, and architectural drift in codebases.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver robust solutions.
Contribute to design documents, architecture decisions, and estimation.
