Cynch, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer with a backend bias to build AI‑assisted tax workflow systems and data platforms. You’ll work across the stack but tackle data models, execution engines, and reliability to ship robust software.

You’ll collaborate with founders, product, and operations, own substantial platform work, and mentor teammates while embracing a hybrid work setup in California. The role emphasizes correctness, performance, and scalability in production.

Qualifications

• Deep backend expertise including cross‑stack work and production systems.
• Experience designing data models, execution paths, observability and workflows.
• Ability to own projects end‑to‑end in an early stage environment.
• Strong architectural judgement and ability to drive implementation decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own substantial product and platform work from problem definition through production rollout.
• Build backend systems with clear APIs, well‑modeled data, reliable execution, observability.
• Translate complex operational workflows into clean software abstractions and tools.
• Identify where AI meaningfully improves velocity while maintaining correctness and reliability.
• Improve the engineering system with better tools, patterns, deployment, and fewer defects.
• Mentor engineers to raise design and ownership quality.
