Job summary

Google Public Sector is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer IV to join the GPS FDE team in Reston, VA. You will work with a squad of innovator-builders delivering production-grade, secure AI solutions across federal and educational environments.

You will code, debug, architect integrations, and drive field-ready agentic workflows with customers, navigating data sovereignty and security within strict compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8 years of software development experience, Python or similar.
• Experience architecting AI systems on cloud platforms (GCP).
• Experience building pipelines for structured/unstructured data using vector DBs and RAG-like architectures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a developer for complex AI applications from prototype to production-grade agentic workflows.
• Architect and code integration between Google AI products and customer live infrastructure.
• Build high-performance evaluation pipelines and observability frameworks for accuracy, safety, and latency.
• Identify repeatable field patterns and convert them into reusable modules or feature requests.
• Co-build with Customer Engineering teams to ensure long end-user adoption.
