Biogen seeks an Associate Director, AI/Data Science to lead strategic adoption of analytics, ML, and generative AI across pharmacovigilance, regulatory, quality, and clinical data operations. You will shape data science strategy, evaluate AI/ML solutions, and partner with R&D leaders to transform data into impactful, compliant decisions.

The role requires strong GenAI depth, experience in regulated life sciences, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Travel <10%. Base compensation range is $176,000–$242,000, with incentive opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in CS, mathematics, statistics, computational biology, or related field.
• 7+ years in biotech/pharma using data to support R&D decisions.
• Expert programming with Python, R, LLMs, or similar for large data sources.
• Experience developing LLM apps, prompt engineering, RAG pipelines for regulated life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead analytics and AI strategy using modern methodologies (LLMs, GenAI, RAG).
• Research, test, and implement AI/ML approaches for pharmacovigilance, regulatory, quality, and clinical data.
• Establish AI governance, validation, and responsible AI practices aligned with GxP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D analytics groups to advance standards and governance.
• Present findings and business impact to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff in data science, GenAI, LLMs, and responsible AI practices.
