Job summary

Reston Consulting Group, Inc. seeks a Senior AI/Cybersecurity Solutions Engineer to join a federal SAE team in Suitland, MD. You’ll drive AI security platforms, automate NIST-based workflows, and own technical workstreams from requirements to CI/CD and evidence generation.

The ideal candidate will craft Python-based AI automation, leverage AWS security services, and maintain documentation for auditable federal environments, with 100% on-site work in a government setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of cloud security engineering experience.
• 2+ years of production experience with generative AI/LLM technologies.
• 4+ years of experience working with AWS security services.
• 3+ years of experience supporting federal compliance frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA.
• 2+ years of active Jira and Confluence experience in an Agile or technical delivery environment.
• Expert-level Python development experience (Python 3.11+, boto3, type hints, robust error handling).
• Advanced experience with Amazon Bedrock (agents, action groups, Knowledge Bases, guardrails, RAG).
• Expert knowledge of AWS security technologies (Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config, IAM, CloudTrail, OIDC).
• Advanced container security experience with ECR, ECS/EKS, image scanning, runtime monitoring, and hardening.
• Advanced knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, control families and evidence requirements.
• Advanced experience with CI/CD and IaC (GitLab CI, CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Advanced Git/version-control experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing technical work in Jira and maintaining Confluence documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Bedrock agent action groups and Python Lambda layers.
• Develop RAG pipelines using Bedrock Knowledge Bases and standards like NIST 800-53, CIS Benchmarks.
• Create prompts, guardrails, and input validation to improve AI security and accuracy.
• Evolve foundation-model strategies as platform needs grow.
• Develop AI-assisted capabilities for security assessment, remediation, and compliance workflows.
• Build automated NIST 800-53 control assessments and security evidence collection.
• Automate remediation and hardening across AWS services (S3, EC2, IAM, CloudTrail, ECS, EKS).
• Integrate data from AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, and Config for AI-guided decisions.
• Support SLA logic, KEV correlation, risk enrichment, and remediation tracking.
• Maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and deployment verifications.
• Maintain strong Git practices and documentation in Jira/Confluence.
• Produce design docs, evidence packages for federal security assessments.
• Take ownership of technical workstreams and collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams.
