Job summary

Surescripts is searching for a Principal AI Engineer to lead enterprise AI initiatives, architect scalable AI systems, and mentor engineering teams. The role blends hands-on development with architectural leadership, guiding data strategy, MLOps, and responsible AI across products and internal operations.

You will partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant AI at scale in a hybrid U.S. environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in progressive software, data, or AI/ML engineering.
• 4+ years in a lead/senior engineering role mentoring engineers.
• 3+ years hands-on machine learning / AI engineering experience.
• Experience architecting solutions across APIs, microservices, data engineering, and cloud-native apps.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical how and delivery timeline for AI initiatives as solution architect and lead engineer.
• Architect and build scalable, responsible AI solutions including generative AI and predictive models.
• Serve as a trusted technical partner across groups, balancing feasibility, effort, and impact.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and frame trade-offs for stakeholders.
• Lead evaluation of new AI technologies and vendors with architectural fit and integration.
• Prototype and validate advanced AI approaches to de-risk initiatives.
• Run architecture/design reviews and set AI engineering standards (MLOps, data, governance).
• Mentor engineers on enterprise AI trust, safety, testing, and continuous improvement.
