Job summary

New York Life Insurance Co. seeks a Principal AI Engineer to lead the design, build, and delivery of enterprise AI solutions. This hands-on role spans ML, Generative AI, and agentic AI, leveraging an enterprise AI platform to create measurable business value.

You will mentor engineers, define AI standards, and partner with business leaders to maximize value, all while staying current with emerging AI technologies and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Eight or more years of experience delivering machine learning and AI solutions with increasing technical leadership and ownership.
• Demonstrated expertise designing and delivering production AI applications spanning ML, Generative AI, and agentic AI architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of AI and Generative AI solutions with cross-functional partners.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate production AI applications on the enterprise AI platform.
• Architect and implement advanced AI solutions including agentic AI and multi-agent orchestration.
• Evaluate and integrate AI technologies across the stack for scalability and security.
• Establish engineering practices for AI development including testing, observability, and governance.
• Prototype AI-enabled applications to validate concepts and accelerate adoption.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence across teams.
• Partner with business leaders to define success metrics and maximize value.
