Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to embed with a government team and partners, building an AI-powered engineering ecosystem. You will design, integrate, and operationalize AI agents and agentic workflows in secure environments, across LLMs, agent frameworks, APIs, and platform services.

The role emphasizes hands-on implementation, rapid prototyping, production readiness, and collaboration with platform engineers and commercial partners.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI in production.
• Experience designing AI agents or agentic workflows.
• Strong Python or other modern language programming skills.
• API, enterprise apps, databases and external tool integration.
• Experience with agent frameworks or orchestration approaches.
• Knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, tool calling, structured outputs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and integrate AI agents and multi-agent workflows.
• Develop agent capabilities interacting with apps, data sources, tools and APIs.
• Integrate models, agents, tools into secure production workflows.
• Work with LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector DBs, and tool calls.
• Prototype and evaluate new models and agent frameworks.
• Implement guardrails, policy controls, and human-in-the-loop points.
• Integrate agentic workloads with CI/CD and DevSecOps in Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Collaborate with platform engineers and partners to operationalize AI workloads.
