EY is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to build enterprise-ready agents and distributed AI systems. You will shape execution loops, safety controls, and tooling across long-running workflows in a Challenger program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 7–9 years of experience in software or applied machine-learning engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping large-language-model applications, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Strong capability in Python, TypeScript, or another language used for production services.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Practical command of asynchronous work, state, concurrency, idempotency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority for applications or automated workloads.
• Evidence of improving live systems through traces, metrics, logs, incident analysis, and durable remediation.
• Travel up to 50% and flexibility to go into the office in a hybrid capacity.

• Choose the right execution model for deterministic versus autonomous workflows.
• Build connectors and interfaces with clear contracts and validated outcomes.
• Engineer agent behavior across planning, routing, delegation, stopping, retry, and handoff.
• Create durable context with instructions, user state, memory, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials, budgets, and approvals.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified outcomes and safe recoveries.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpointing, and graceful degradation.
• Make behavior observable through end-to-end traces and replay for failure analysis.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points for inspection and resumption.
• Build shared capability by collaborating across product, platform, security and evaluation teams.
