Job summary

Level AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer in Austin to design, build, and operate agentic AI systems end-to-end. You will own prompts, tools, retrieval, guardrails, observability, cost and latency budgets, and rollout.

You will guide governance, safety, and compliance for AI designs, and optimize operator workflows. You will also ensure production features are well-documented with runbooks, dashboards, and eval harnesses.

Qualifications

• 7+ years professional experience as an engineer.
• 1+ years hands-on building agentic systems.
• Production experience with agentic systems on modern stacks.

Responsibilities

• Ship production agentic systems end to end with prompts, tools, retrieval, and guardrails.
• Provide governance and security guidance for AI designs and usage.
• Automate SME workflows and replace toil with AI across reviews, labeling, and ops loops.
• Design for safety and compliance, run bias evals, and implement human-in-the-loop controls.
• Deliver production features with documentation, runbooks, and dashboards.
