Job summary

JANUS Research Group seeks an AFSIM Modeler to support Army Aviation modeling, simulation, experimentation, and capability-development activities at Fort Rucker. You will develop mission scenarios, run simulations, and analyze outputs to evaluate current and future capabilities across weapons, sensors, networks, and C2 systems.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, 3+ years with AFSIM, C++ and Python proficiency, and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as CS, Engineering, Math, OR equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on AFSIM experience.
• Experience configuring AFSIM run sets and developing mission scenarios.
• Working proficiency with C++.
• Experience using Python or similar scripting languages for data collection and analysis.
• Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operational SMEs.
• Active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AFSIM models and mission scenarios.
• Configure and execute AFSIM simulation run sets.
• Model aircraft, sensors, weapons, missile systems, radar/EW, C2 networks, and other mission systems.
• Develop scripts and analytical tools for simulation execution and post-processing.
• Support development or modification of AFSIM plug-ins and extensions.
• Collect, process, analyze, and visualize simulation results.
• Support sensitivity analyses and comparison of alternative configurations.
• Coordinate with Army SMEs and systems engineers to translate problems into numerical scenarios.
• Support model verification, validation, and quality-control activities.
• Document model inputs, assumptions, source data, configuration information, and data lineage.
• Prepare technical modeling documentation, analytical reports, and briefing materials.
