Job summary

JANUS Research Group is seeking a Senior Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) Modeler to support Army Aviation at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The role involves developing, configuring, and analyzing mission-level simulations, translating operational concepts into repeatable analyses, and mentoring junior staff.

The candidate will use C++, Python, and other scripting tools, work with subject matter experts, and ensure model verification and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field.
• Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and executing models using AFSIM.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Ability to document assumptions, data, methodologies, and model lineage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AFSIM models representing Army Aviation systems.
• Configure AFSIM run sets and create mission-level scenarios.
• Model weapons systems, sensors, radar, EW, and flight dynamics.
• Develop/modify AFSIM plug-ins and analytical utilities.
• Use C++, Python, and scripting tools for data collection and analysis.
• Conduct quantitative modeling, simulation, and systems analysis.
• Translate operational concepts into executable simulation scenarios.
• Support verification and validation of models and outputs.
• Document models, assumptions, and data provenance.
• Create technical reports for Government stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to team members.
• Present results to Government audiences.
