Job summary

JANUS Research Group seeks a Senior AFSIM Modeler to support Army Aviation capability development at Fort Rucker, AL. You will build, run, and analyze mission-level simulations, translating operational questions into quantitative analyses.

The role requires a strong background in C++ and Python, extensive AFSIM experience, and an active Secret clearance. You will mentor others and present findings to Government audiences in a demanding, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline (CS, systems/engineering, math, OR).
• 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on with AFSIM modeling.
• Configure simulation run sets and build mission-level scenarios.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Proficiency in Python or scripting languages.
• Experience in modeling, simulation, and systems analysis.
• Document assumptions, data, methodologies, and model lineage.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AFSIM models representing Army Aviation and future systems.
• Configure AFSIM run sets and create mission-level scenarios for analysis.
• Model weapons systems, sensors, EW, flight dynamics, missiles, space architectures, and C2 networks.
• Develop custom AFSIM plug-ins, extensions, and analytical utilities.
• Use C++, Python, and scripting tools to support development and data processing.
• Conduct quantitative analyses evaluating configurations and force structures.
• Collaborate with Army SMEs to translate concepts into executable simulations.
• Support verification/validation of models and outputs.
• Document models, data lineage, and configuration information.
• Produce technical reports for Government stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to modeling staff.
• Present results to Government audiences.
