Rivian Automotive in California is seeking a Sr. Aerothermal Development Engineer to lead the thermal system development and validation efforts from target setting to vehicle sign-off.

You will benchmark with fleet data, plan tests, and drive hardware/software development across HVAC and propulsion conditioning. You will partner with cross-functional teams across Studio, Thermal, Interior, Exterior, and Controls to deliver data-driven solutions, manage open engineering issues, and ensure robust

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace) from an accredited University.
• 2-5 years’ experience in automotive thermal system development, HVAC design, or electronics cooling.
• Strong data analysis, testing and documentation capabilities.
• Experience with CAN/LIN/Ethernet and automotive debugging tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with aerothermal simulation and CFD concepts is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Lead thermal system development and validation testing, including off-site testing in extreme conditions.
• Develop test procedures aligned with user stories and attribute requirements.
• Plan instrumentation and data acquisition to meet accuracy and robustness needs.
• Identify and address design gaps using empirical data across testing phases.
• Support chamber and on-road testing for HVAC and propulsion conditioning.
• Create and maintain testing documentation, test plans, and verification procedures.
• Drive control strategy development for HVAC/thermal management from test data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative HVAC strategies.
