Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) in Huntsville, AL seeks a seasoned Welding Engineer to lead development of welding techniques for large aluminum aerospace structures, manage projects, and advise on welding processes. Teaming with NASA/ESSCA and JSEG, you will drive process improvements and ensure compliance with aerospace standards.

The role emphasizes expertise in fusion and friction stir welding, MES usage, nonconformance resolution, and cross-functional collaboration; on-site work

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 18+ years of welding or aerospace experience.
• Experience welding large aluminum aerospace structures.
• Ability to obtain/maintain vehicle operation permissions and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop welding techniques and procedures for aluminum aerospace structures.
• Lead welding projects and coordinate with customers.
• Evaluate new welding developments and test processes.
• Prepare technical reports and document procedures.
• Provide expert welding manufacturing guidance to EM32 W&M team.
