Virgin Galactic is seeking an experienced aerospace Stress Analysis Engineer to join our Operations engineering team. You will perform structural analysis of composite aircraft, support manufacturing and repairs, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to ensure loads, safety, and performance.

The role requires 8+ years in structural analysis using FEA methods, experience with NASTRAN, CATIA V5, and aerospace composites, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; experience may substitute.
• 8+ years of structural analysis experience using strength of materials and finite element methods.
• Experience in aerospace composites and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with aircraft/spacecraft composite fabrication, design and analysis.

Responsabilités

• Reviews, updates, and compiles structural definitions from prototype, flight test and operations data.
• Develops standardized analysis criteria and templates.
• Plays a role in workflow release for structural designs.
• Assists in review of manufacturing plans to ensure loads and design compliance.
• Supports creation of structural test plans to verify manufacturing processes.
• Solves problems balancing technical product, cost, and schedule.
• Maintains knowledge of developments to improve quality and effectiveness of product.
• Understand loads and aerodynamic effects on changing loads on a composite aircraft and use a flight dynamic loads tool.
• Drive safety behavior and FOD awareness; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborates with multiple groups to achieve goals.
