Job summary

Hermeus Corporation is seeking a hands-on Sheet Metal Shop Technician to support precision fabrication of tight-tolerance flight hardware. You will set up, operate, and maintain advanced sheet metal cutting and forming equipment and read engineering drawings to ensure parts meet aerospace standards.

You will mentor junior operators, collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams, and help improve fabrication methods while maintaining safe, efficient shop practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in sheet metal fabrication preferred.
• Read and interpret drawings to ensure components meet specs.
• Proficient in precision measurement and quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment (lasers, press brakes, rollers, English wheels, shrinker-stretchers).
• Read blueprints and flat patterns to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine fabrication processes for tight tolerances.
• Execute basic assembly: drilling, riveting, fastening of metallic structures.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot shop equipment.
• Train operators on safe setup and efficient operation.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized workspace and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Provide feedback to improve work instructions and tooling designs.
