Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Sheet Metal Shop Technician (2nd shift) to support precision fabrication of complex, tight-tolerance flight hardware. You will set up, operate, and maintain laser cutters, press brakes, and forming tools, reading drawings to ensure dimensional accuracy, and performing inspections with calipers and micrometers.

As a senior member, you will mentor junior operators, partner with manufacturing and engineering to improve processes, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; trade certification preferred
• 3+ years of experience operating and maintaining machinery in a precision manufacturing or aerospace fabrication environment
• Ability to work 2nd shift 2:00p-10:30p
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting with attention to precision and quality
• Proficient in safe operation of sheet metal forming, cutting, and finishing equipment
• Independent worker and take ownership from setup through inspection
• Strong communication and teamwork with engineers, machinists, and technicians
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varied positions
• Willing to work overtime or weekends to meet goals
• Preferred: experience in aerospace fabrication and CAD/CAM software

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain sheet metal fabrication equipment including laser cutters, press brakes, rollers, English wheels, shrinker-stretchers
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and flat patterns to meet dimensional and quality requirements
• Perform precision measurement and inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and radius gauges
• Collaborate with engineers to develop fabrication processes for complex, tight-tolerance hardware
• Execute basic assembly operations including drilling, riveting, and fastening of metallic structures
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on shop equipment
• Train operators on safe and efficient machine setup and operation
• Maintain a clean, organized, safety-compliant workspace
• Contribute feedback to improve work instructions and tooling designs
