Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Design Engineer III to lead conceptual and detailed design of aerospace structures and mechanical systems. You will create 2-D layouts and 3-D models, perform validation calculations, and ensure compliance with requirements.

You will mentor junior engineers, review peers’ work, and support manufacturing and deployment activities across the product lifecycle. A BS in mechanical/aerospace engineering is required with 4–7 years of aerospace experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent relevant experience and registration.
• Typically 4–7 years of aerospace or defense experience.
• Solid understanding of multiple engineering technologies.
• Proven experience leading the design of robust hardware.
• Detailed knowledge of military and commercial design specifications.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools relevant to mechanical systems design.
• This position requires U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed design of aerospace structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems per requirements.
• Create 2-D layouts and 3-D solid models for mechanical systems.
• Perform engineering calculations to validate safety and compliance.
• Review design calculations and analyses performed by peers.
• Assess design for cost, manufacturability, and quality assurance.
