Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Design Engineer III to lead the aerospace structures and mechanisms design, creating 2-D layouts and 3-D models while performing analyses to ensure safety and compliance. You will review designs for manufacturability and cost, and develop documentation for drawings, BOMs, and inspection specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
• Typically 4–7 years of aerospace or defense experience.
• Solid understanding of multiple engineering technologies.
• Proven experience leading the design of robust hardware.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools relevant to mechanical systems design.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed design of aerospace structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems.
• Create 2-D layout drawings and 3-D solid model concepts for mechanical systems.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate safe operation and compliance with requirements.
• Verify design calculations and analysis performed by peers and junior engineers.
• Review design for cost, manufacturability, and quality assurance considerations.
• Develop engineering documentation including drawings, bills of materials, manufacturing requirements, and inspection specifications.
• Support manufacturing, quality assurance, assembly, testing, and deployment activities throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical support to internal teams, suppliers, and customers during development and production.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical resource across the team.
• Support proposal development, presentations, and business development activities.
